  • Off the grid in Maine plus Great eats

I made it up to Bosebuck Mountain Camps in Maine last weekend. http://www.bosebuck.com/home.htm They are at the north end of Aziscahos Lake 14 miles beyond the power lines. They have a seaplane parking spot and serve great meals. The camps are rustic. You can fish from your porch or use their boats. A diesel generator makes lodging off the grid seamless. A group of bicyclist and I road the gravel snowmobile logging roads around Magalloway Mountain to Pittsburg NH. We also landed at 1st Connecticut Lake in NH and stayed at Metallak Lodge. They had a mooring I docked at. http://www.cabinsatlopstick.com/Metallak.html The main lodge at Metallak was very nice. They cooked a grand meal for the 11 of us. The waters were cool and refreshing. The mountain departure was beautiful. Fuel was available in Berlin.

Other recent dinner trips were made to Peaks Island Maine (salt water) off the coast of Portland. We had a great meal at the Peaks Island Inn and docked by the ferry dock. Talk to PWM approach as you are well inside their class C airspace. http://www.innonpeaks.com/island.php

Lake Winnipesaukee has many places to dock and eat. Town Docks Restaurant has good docking and great eats. I was able to tie off the docks but a stern anchor would allow seaplane parking against their deck even if the docks are full. http://www.yelp.com/biz/town-docks-restaurant-meredith

Great post! Thanks for sharing. I may check out a couple of those spots next time I'm in Maine.

Could you please elaborate on exactly where you docked and any hazards, tips, for tying up?

We docked at the ferry terminal side dock. There was a clear channel for take off and landing there.

Still on amphibs. Landed on the ice runway at Alton bay last week. They have a fly in this weekend. https://www.facebook.com/AltonBaySea...eandIceRunway/
